Setting goals gives you a road map.

Setting end goals gives you a road map as you work towards your goals.

What do you Really want to achieve in your lifetime?

Here are some main topic areas of your life to think on:

Family
Personal
Spiritual
Financial
Career
Education
Creativity
Attitude
Physical
Pleasure
Public Service

Brainstorming

Deciding on what you truly want can sometimes actually be very daunting. Setting vague goals is a no-no! Your goals must be very specific and defined. Wanting "more money" is not a very good goal.  A good powerful goal is stating a specific amount of money with knowing the reasons behind the want of the money.

The time spent brainstorming on these topics will pay off by providing you with a better understanding of what you truly want to achieve. Choose one or choose a few! The topics are all part of creating a life you will love. Be sure to select topics that are most important to you at this time in your life.

It is best to be setting goals as a end goal. Make sure that your goals are very defined and clear on what it is you want to achieve.

If you discover you have to many goals to begin with, go through your goals you have and repeat the brainstorming process again. This will help you decide on the most important goals to work towards at this time.

You don't need to work on all your goals at once..."Rome wasn't built in a day".

The best goal to set, is the one that scares you the most!

Setting Overall Goals

Set goals for each of the following as well:

Weekly small goals for the bigger goal
A one-month from now goal
A six-month from now goal
A one-year list of major goals.
A five-year goal of major goals.

Consistency and Persistence

Consistency and Persistence is key to reaching your goals. Make it a daily habit to review your goals and make intentions for the day that works towards them.

Having smaller short-term goals and with the use of a daily "To-Do List" will help you keep on track as you progress towards your major goals.

Goals are dreams with deadlines. - Diana Scharf

Staying on Course

Life can get crazy! Life has a tendency to make your daily actions become habitual. Habitual habits are great as long as they are habits that move you towards your goal.

Everyday can seem like a repeat of yesterday. This is why having short term goals and a "To Do List" is important. This helps keep your habitual habits ones that keep you moving forward towards your goal.

Become aware of what you are spending your time on. If you spend most of your time on things that move you towards your goal, you are on the right course.

Every so often you should review your goals. As time goes by, things change. Your goals might not be what you are wanting anymore.  Re-adjust them to your ever-changing life. Finally make sure to review your plans more than once to ensure that they fit the way you want and need in order to live your life.
